Welcome!
Each year we invite you to our communal opening to spirit
experience at Morden Hall Park.
Annual Osun River Ritual 2023
You're invited to join the annual river ritual in London, coinciding with the twoweek-long Oshogba Festival in Yorubaland (Nigeria). As always our focus in honouring Mami Osun is for love to manifest, for healing to vibrate and to experience abundance in all areas of our lives. We celebrate Mami Osun to channel all things sweet and smooth like the flow of her cooling, healing waters and sacred honey.
Collectively we summon her sensuousness, generosity and nurture. We bring our full offerings of all her special food to thank her for always sweetening our lives, despite the many struggles and tragedies we face. She is always there!
You will join others in the spirit of Ubuntu, bringing your love, giving thanks, enjoying the peace and joy of the occasion, and letting go enough to be charmed by the empowering vibrations of this communal ritual.

Offering to Mami Osun
What is the
Annual Osun River Ritual?
Initiated 7 years ago, the Annual Osun River Ritual takes place on the second Sunday of August in line with the two-week long Osun Festival in Osogbo, Yorubaland/Nigeria. We gather at a location in the picturesque Morden Hall Park, South West London, through which runs the Wandle River, we've adopted for this Ritual.

Osun is the Orisa of sweet waters. She brings abundance, creativity, fertility, healing, joy and protection. Whether an Osun devotee, practitioner of other African spiritual systems, or seeking to connecting with spirit, you are welcome to join this ritual and bring your offering to Mami Osun in a collective, communal setting.
Who is Mami Osun, why do we honour her?

"I knew then as is the case now that representation matters. It is fundamental to identity and self-transformation. I recognised that when we can’t see ourselves through the myriad forms possible those philosophic questions that every soul asks of itself are often impossible to answer, resulting in lack of self-worth and self-belief. Actually, we are thus conditioned to believe that the dominant representation holds power over our lives."
RIVER CLEAN UP
& RITUAL 2023
For London Rivers Week 2023, join us to honour the river deity, Mama Osun, with a clean-up and collective offering to her sacred waters.
We enjoyed it so much last year that the Annual Osun River Ritual organisers and Thames21 are again inviting you to this special tribute to the river goddess Mama Osun. This event is part of the celebration for London Rivers Week.
A memorable tribute

"Here in the UK, Ifa practitioners, Osun initiates and other devotes also commemorate this significant event in the Yoruba calendar with communal gatherings at rivers and streams in communion with the festival in Osogbo. However, even as the UK holds ‘religious tolerance’ as a key national value and respect for all faiths, Osun’s is not listed as part of the nation’s celebrated religious festivals nor is it even recognised in the workplace."
